How can I stop my iPad from receiving text messages that are sent to my iPhone?

QuickPost has explained how to keep messages from Apple's proprietary iMessage system from reaching your iPad.

To prevent messages from the SMS/MMS (cellular) system from reaching your iPad:

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding and disable the entry for your iPad.
