“Log in from the paired iPhone” coming up on Facebook Messenger app on Apple Watch series 4

Hi Guys,

I had the same problem with my series 5 yesterday.

I did remove messenger from IPhone first,

Then removed from apple watch in apple watch itself and,

Then install again on IPhone from apple store and install on apple watch

from apple store directly on the watch as well.

Open messenger on IPhone first and then on apple watch.

This has worked for me.

So I tried all the steps listed above in the others post.. None of that worked. UNTIL- I redownloaded the app on my watch (from the actual watch) and my phone! Then I clicked messenger, and logged out of the current account on Messenger and relogged in with FB username and password... low and behold, the watch began loading all messages!!

Try this. Also make sure it is up to date

The solution is to make sure you aren’t automatically logging yourself into messenger on your phone by having an existing account logged in your Facebook app. My steps to get this working again we’re to:

Delete my Facebook app (or possibly log out).

Delete Messenger.

Reinstall Messenger on my phone BUT DO NOT LOG IN YET.

Add Messenger to my watch via the Apple Watch app.

Open the Messenger app on my Watch and see the message saying to log in via your phone.

Now open Messenger on your phone and log in with your username and password.

i had this issue as well and this is what worked for me:

1. Log out of your Facebook account
2. delete the Messenger app on your phone & Apple watch
3. Re-install the Messenger app on both the phone and Apple watch (via the app store on the phone & the watch)
4. Open the Messenger app on your Apple watch
5. Proceed to log into the Messenger app on your phone while the app is open on your Apple watch
6. Apple watch should come good and show any messages in Messenger
7. Log back into Facebook again.

This has fixed the issue for me so far. I have an iPhone 6S Plus & an Apple watch Series 5. I hope this fixes the issue for everyone else as well.

I FINALLY got this to work thinking I needed to wait for the updates, etc. the first time I tried it, it has the “continue as tonya” option so you don’t put in your login information. DO NOT choose that option. Click the “this is not me” and manually enter info. Voila!!

Mines back up and running the key is to delete messenger from watch and phone delete Facebook from phone reinstall all 3 again launch fb first and select sign in with different account log in to Facebook then login to messenger then open messenger on phone and all working

Hello, this happened to me today and what I did was remove the app from my iPhone and then downloaded it again while having the watch by my phone and when I logged into messenger on my phone I had the messenger app pulled up on my watch and I logged into messenger and the watch started to load and automatically logged in. Hopefully this helps.

I had the same problems but I uninstalled messenger app on my iphone and Iwatch but still the same when I tried logging in. So I did it again and something pop up on my iwatch “ allow notifications etc and I click not allow “ and I log in messenger on my iPhone and it solves the problems!!!!

This is the one that worked for me! I think the key was deleting Facebook. I had it deactivated and still got the message. Deleting Facebook app from my phone and messenger from my phone and watch and then re-loading them & opening watch app before logging in on phone. Thank you thank you thank you.

I found it came back again.

Since then, I discovered that following Camellia’s prices works EXCEPT when you go back into FB after reinstalling the apps individually on each device, DON’T USE CURRENT/SAVED LOG IN. Indicate “this is not me” and log back in manually, then go onto watch, allow it to receive notifications and it should all work. I did this and after 2 days, it hasn’t asked me to “log in” since.

Update:

It did this again when i completely closed the app on my phone while it was still open on my Apple watch. To fix that i just did the steps I mentioned & it is now working again. My theory is that Apple watches mirror what you do on your iPhone so another possible solution would be to close the app on the watch first before closing it on the iPhone. Lets hope Facebook release an update for the Messenger app to fix this as it is very frustrating.
