Why does my password work on my iphone but not on my apple tv?

I have an apple ID with password. Both work fine when using my iphone or mac but as soon as i try to enter the exact same password when using apple tv keeps on saying Verification Failed..... why?

Using Apple ID for a TV I am trying to reconnect my apple tv from my tv with my password and the verification code data entry option is not showing up on my tv. I receive the code on my phone but the field doesn't show up on the tv to enter it. How do I get it to work? All my devices are connected but this one. Apple TV won't accept password and 6 digit pin even though they are correct Whenever try to log in to the iTunes account on my Apple TV and add my password with the 6 digit verification code at the end it says it isn't correct. I have tried multiple times and still get the same result. Very frustrating. I logged into iCloud on the same device fine. The set up was different for this whereby I added the 6 digit pin separately to the password. Whats the go?
