So I bought an iPhone XR from apple and it won’t take a different SIM card. How is this when it’s unlocked?

Hello Mikenna-

If you bought your iPhone XR directly from Apple by paying in Full or through the Apple Upgrade Program then your iPhone should indeed be unlocked and you should contact âž” Apple Support and resolve this issue.

If you bought your iPhone XR directly from Apple BUT bought it through your cell phone service provider's account then it will be locked to that carrier once you activated it. The assumption here is that you are still paying for the iPhone in payments to your carrier. If this is the case then you should contact your carrier and have them unlock your iPhone XR.
