Lost Word doc.

My laptop started freezing yesterday, shortly I had completed an assignment on Word doc and saved it to my desktop. My laptop shut down and started updating about 30 mins after it froze. I lost all the work that I was in the middle of. I found out this morning that the saved document from earlier during the was gone. I tried looking but was not able to find it. What can I do next? I need to find that document!

Two Thoughts:

A. View: "Open Recent":

  1. Open: MS Word
  2. Select: File Menu
  3. Select: Open Recent >
  4. See if it Pops Up

B. Use Spotlight Spotlight:

  1. Open Spotlight Search: [Hold Command key + Press Spacebar key]
  2. Type: the name of the file
  3. As you type the name of the file, it will popup
