Connect macbook pro to LG monitor

Hello. I have a MacBook Pro 2017. I just bought this monitor.

How do I connect the two and I do I need some type of adapter?

This adapter is not compatible with displays that use DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort, such as the Apple LED Cinema Display. Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 are not the same as Mini DisplayPort , though the ports have the same shape.

from:

About the Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter - Apple Support

That adapter ONLY works with genuine ThunderBolt displays. It does not supply a Mini DisplayPort or any other usable display signal in either direction, and can NOT use ANY display adapters to get them.

You don't need that adapter.

Your display has a genuine ThunderBolt-3 input, and

Your computer has four genuine ThunderBolt-3 outputs.

Buy a genuine ThunderBolt-3 cable, and live happily ever after.

The MacBook Pro with Retina sports two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot and two Thunderbolt 2 ports, the latter of which allow you to perform superfast file transfers and connect to high-resolution external displays. Despite borrowing the 12-inch MacBook's Force Touch pad, the new Pro lacks that model's USB Type-C connection.

So I think I would need the converter from 2 to 3?

Why does apple keep updating this? I need a converter for everything.
