Mac Pro 2019 Vega II Driver Crashing?

I'm not sure what is actually happening but on my new Mac Pro I experience periodic black screens where it seems like the graphics driver is resetting or crashing.

I have the XDR monitor with a BenQ PD3200U display as well as a Cintiq Pro 24. While working for seemingly no reason all three screens will flash black screens for 3 seconds before displaying the screens again and I can continue working.

Is this a known issue or am I experiencing something unique?

Mac Pro 2019

12 Core CPU

64GB Ram

Radeon Pro Vega II

XDR Monitor->Thunderbolt 3

BenQ PD3200U->HDMI to USB-C

Cintiq Pro 24->USB-C

Mac Pro, macOS 10.15

Well I'm not entirely sure what happened but the issue seems to have resolved itself?

I needed to make some adjustments to my hardware setup which required me to use the HDMI out of the Vega card instead of using the usb-c of the I/o card for my Cintiq. Whereas my previous setup was:

XDR Monitor->Thunderbolt 3 Vega

BenQ PD3200U->HDMI to USB-C Vega

Cintiq Pro 24->USB-C i/o card

Now it is:

XDR Monitor->Thunderbolt 3 Vega

BenQ PD3200U->HDMI to HDMI Vega

Cintiq Pro 24->USB-C Vega

So all three devices are now using the Vega card directly. When I first set this up macOS informed me it needed to install some update related to the display. So I assume using the HDMI output prompted this because the screen using the HDMI didn't work until the update was installed.

Regardless, it's been a few days without the black screen so all seems well at this point. If that changes, I'll reply.

Thanks for the help!

Hi jessefromtorrance,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with your Mac Pro. It sounds like you have 3 monitors that will periodically flash to black.

Let's try and isolate this a bit more.

Does it happen if you only have the XDR connected? Also check out: Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac
