Unable to set Google as default search engine.

Hi,

Since two days whether I use Safari or Google Chrome on my MacBook Pro to search anything on url box it won't go to Google search directly. In Safari Preferences and Google Chrome settings default search engine is Google itself.

  1. searchbaloon.com/v1/hostedsearch?aid=
  2. hut.brdtxhea.xyz/api/rolbng/ffind?p
  3. mybrowser-search.com

Within fraction of seconds above URLs changes and finally settle at mybrowser-search.com. If I double click on back button it will go back to Google Search.

I am afraid if my MacBook have virus. Please suggest.

Regards,

Chandu

Not a virus, but you likely have adware installed. It’s simple to clear.

Re-launch Safari with Shift key down, then delete History and Website Data from Safari preferences.

If the adware returns anyway, download and run the FREE version of Malwarebytes. You don’t need the paid version.
