Mac software updates remove guest account

Does anyone know why every OS update deletes the guest account from my MacBook?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

Sorry, I'm not sure why that would happen. Unfortunately, searching for it gets bogged down in how to disable it.

You have no problems keeping it between restarts? I might think it is a property list problem, but that would happen every restart, not just updates.

As a wild guess, try booting into Safe Mode, then restart normally. That will clear some system caches. But, again, I have no idea why that would fix anything that is affected in an update.

Only happens when there is a software update. So, after re-enabling the guest account when I boot up I get the choice between logging in as me or as a guest. Works fine like that until there’s a software update, then I can only login as me. So I go into Settings and re-enable the Guest login. And all’s okay again until the next software update.

I’m not sure how long ago it started but it must be at least 5-6 software updates ago. I’ve been assuming it’s happening to everyone with a Guest account enabled on their Macs.......am I wrong?
