iOS Text audio alert from ONLY one sender

Hello,

I'm using iOS 13.5.1 - and I want to get an audio alert on text messages from ONLY a certain sender.

There are lots of tutorials on how to go into contacts, and set a custom sound on texts from a certain sender. That's NOT what I'm asking about here.

For the most part, I like my text messages to be silent. Except for this one sender. Anytime they send something, I need to hear a beep, or whatever really. I can go into contacts and assign a custom sound for them. That works fine. However, if Settings >> Notifications >> Messages >> Sound is set to "None" then that overrides any audio from any sender, and I get nothing. So I need to have Settings >> Notifications >> Messages >> Sound set to something. Well if I set it to something, now I get a sound if anyone sends me a text, which I don't want.

So is it possible to make it so that I get a sound from ONLY one particular contact?

I understand from your question that you want to only play a sound when a specific person texts you. I can certainly help you with this!

I would refer to a few articles listed below. You can do like you said and set custom ringtones to a contact, you can also set a favorite contact which allows them to bypass do not disturb.

Change message notifications on iPhone

"Assign a different ringtone to a contact

Open Contacts, then select a contact.
Tap Edit, then tap Text Tone.
Choose an option below Alert Tones.
To allow alerts for messages sent by this contact even when Do Not Disturb is on, turn on Emergency Bypass."

Use Contacts from the Phone app on iPhone

"Add a Favorite

Put VIP contacts in your Favorites list for quick dialing.

Select a contact, then scroll down and tap Add to Favorites.

Calls from these contacts bypass Do Not Disturb (see Set Do Not Disturb on iPhone)."
