Security Update broke macOS Desktop

Has anyone else experienced the 1 June 2020 Security Update breaking the desktop environment?

Without a Time Machine backup, how would I go about resolving this issue?

The Dock is not visible at the bottom of the screen.

The Minimize and Maximize buttons on windows no longer work.

The Desktop background is not visible.

It appears as if the desktop is not running.

How can I start applications without the Dock bar?

Thanks for your help.

Start with this...

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

1. Start up from macOS Recovery

To start up from macOS Recovery, turn on your Mac and immediately press and hold one of the following combinations on your keyboard. Command-R is generally recommended, especially if you never installed macOS Sierra 10.12.4 or later… https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904#notupdated

Command (⌘)-R

Install the latest macOS that was installed on your Mac.

Option-⌘-R

Upgrade to the latest macOS compatible with your Mac.

Shift-Option-⌘-R

Install the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available.

I have further information about this fault...looking at console errors.

There's also an iCloud error, but I can't see how that would be related.
