Cannot get photos from I phone to windows pc

You are using v11of the iCloud App for Windows, which no longer has the option to download photos to a specified location. I see that you're having a problem downloading photos from iCloud to your Windows PC, and I'm glad to help with this.

Set up and use iCloud Photos on your Windows PC -- The first screenshot you shared is showing that you have iCloud Photos turned on. The steps to manually download your photos and videos are under the heading, "Download your photos and videos from iCloud Photos".

If iCloud isn't syncing your photos and videos automatically to your Windows PC, make sure that you have iCloud Photos turned on on your iPhone under Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos.

If it was already on, open iCloud for Windows > Photos > Options and turn off iCloud Photo Library for 10 seconds or so, then turn it back on and see if your photos and videos appear on your computer.

So, after struggling to remove the v11 icloud for windows and installing from the above link: yes, i got the option back to save the photos to the folder i choose,etc. However, i remembered that the reason i had to use the microsoft version of icloud (meaning downloading it from the microsoft store), was that you had to do that to get your icloud calendar into outlook..as well as the .me mail. Comes down to choosing between the Microsoft icloud install which gives you the outlook capability....and the apple version 10 which gives you back the option of having your photos automatically go to a folder of your choosing. Anyone find a fix for this?? What we need is the older version of the Microsoft install.
