Hi,

Some more details would help us address your question. What iMovie version and operating system version are you presently running? To get current iMovie 10.1.14 you must be running at least Mojave 10.14.6. What computer model and year do you have? Did you buy your computer new or second hand? Do you have or have you ever had iMovie 10 on your computer?

If you are running Mojave 10.14.6, or can update to it, you can sign in at the online app store and type iMovie into the search box, and then download iMovie from among the apps that are displayed. Or, if running an earlier operating system and cannot update to Mojave 10.14.6, you can try the following procedure:

To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. (You can skip that step if you had iMovie 10 on your computer before, but deleted it.) Sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. You will see your purchases displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash (if you moved it there) and return it to the Applications folder.
