can you step frame-by-frame through a video (QuickTime Player 10.5, Catalina)?

Does the new Quicktime Player app have ability either to slow the playback speed or step frame-by-frame?

Hello there TylerTrumper,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you are inquiring about slow-mo and frame-by-frame when using QuickTime Player. I am more than happy to give you some insight on this.

While you have the video open that you would like to play in slow-mo, perform these actions:

  • Continuous press K+L for forward slow motion with audio
  • Continuous press K+J for reverse slow motion with audio

If you hold down"K" and tap "L" or "J" one at a time, it will move frame by frame.

I hope this helps! Have a great day!
