Hi, trying to use sidecar to use my screen for my macbook air 2017 with updated catalina onto my 2019 macbook pro. i cannot turn airplay on or see my ipad as an option to connect in. I am set up on the same apple id for both. any tricks to get these to connect
MacBook Air
Note that AirPlay is different from SideCar. AirPlay can only be used between an iOS or an iPadOS device to an AppleTV or a Television equipped with AirPlay capability. It is therefore not possible to AirPlay from an iPhone to an iPad or vice versa.
Regarding SideCar - This only works between certain Macs using macOS Catalina and certain iPads using iPadOS 13. Please check the System Requirements to use Sidecar and check whether your MacBook Air AND iPad meet those requirements.
