What is the difference between photos and all photos on an iMac

If I am using photos does it have anything to do with Google photos? Do the photos I have on my iMac have anything to do with Google photos?

Photos in the left Sidebar gives you all the photos in your album. They are separated (At the top) into Days, Months, Years, All Photos. This essentially zooms out the selection.
