Charging port issues with 5th generation iPad mini

I have a problem with the charging port on my brand new 5th generation iPad mini. I have to insert the charging cable several times before it will begin charging. Is this a common problem with the mini 5 or is it a problem with my device? This is the 3rd iPad mini I’ve owned and haven’t encountered this issue on my earlier devices. Thank you!

This sounds like an isolated problem. I haven’t heard much of this before to say if this is a common experience. Even if so, I would request an exchange on it as it is brand new and would not be acceptable if that were the case with a device that I had just purchased. Take it back where you got it and request an exchange. If you had it shipped to you by Apple, get in touch with Apple support and request a replacement.
