Identifying Kernel Panic for Mid-2010 MacBookPro Running 10.13.6

Hello,

I'm suffering from kernel panics while using my mid-2010 MacBookPro, on which I recently installed 10.13.6, as well as updated to an SSD and increased the memory. I've been getting kernel panics that seem to come from several applications (including Safari), and I can't figure out the actual cause.

After looking through a few other similar discussions, I've found the panic logs, but I don't know how to read them.

Can someone help me identify the root of the issue?

Thank you.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

I think you have a Mid-2010 15" Macbook Pro, and your discrete GPU chip is failing. All 3 panics show that it is the GPU that is failing.

This is rather common in that generation 15" Macbook Pro. I have a Late 2011 15" Macbook Pro with a failing discrete GPU.

I keep my Macbook Pro running (as a backup server) using gfxCardStatus having it force the use of the integrated intel GPU

See if you have a panic report (file's ending in .panic).  If you have more than 1, please post a couple as the differences can be very useful:

Look for the Kernel Panic reports at:

Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder -> /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports

<http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200553>

The panic report should have ".panic" in the file name.

You can put the panic report in an "Additional Text" box when you Reply

If, AND ONLY IF, you have difficulty posting via "Additional Text"

then try posting to PasteBin.com, and give us a PasteBin URL link.

Thank you Bob!

The ReadMe for gfxcardstatus directed me to use this tool instead to fix this specific problem. I've installed it now, and will come back and update in a few days if this has solved the problem. If it hasn't, I'll switch over to gfxcardstatus.
