Windows 10 iCloud Photos Stuck Updating...

so I had the same problem and I just solved it: I had OneDrive activated and it was Syncing my pictures and even changed the Standard Picture Library and all to a OneDrive folder. I unlinked OneDrive and changed the Folders back (in the Registry), restarted and after that, iCloud started Syncing my pictures.

Maybe this is also your problem?

The Part "Unlink OneDrive"

second (What I had to do, cause my personal Folders were configured on the OneDrive Folders) I had to alter the registry:

When you open the registry Key there are a few entrys configured on the OneDrive Folders, those should all be changed back to %USERPROFILE%. A restart after that should do the trick. Hope this helps.

Nothing is fixing it. I've updated the whole computer (Windows 10 v2004). Done all Lenovo updates. Reinstalled iCloud for Windows 3 times. Run it in administrator mode. No luck with anything. All I get it "updating..." for ever (see screenshot 1).

In addition, every time I uninstall and reinstall it leaves an iCloud photos folder in file explorer which is unable to be deleted (see screenshot 2).

I am trying to transition everything to iCloud through my PC and I don't want to buy a Mac just yet.... please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the exact same problem. I considered upgrading my data storage in iCloud because I don't have too much space left but seems from the thread here that isn't necessarily a fix and then I don't want to. I also updated to the newest version of Windows recently (2004).

I've got the exakt same problem. But I've got a clean Windows 10 installation as of yesterday, downloaded iCloud and it is just Stuck on Updating the photos. The iCloud Drive with the documents works just fine. Is there any update on this?

Should be fairly easy reproduce the behaviour

I'm in a similar position - 20k photos - iCloud for Windows stuck on " Downloading 1526 photos". not even the number which are not sync'd. Was borked before update to 2004. Have tried OneDrive fix - folders not mapped thankfully but still no joy.

I have the same issue. Got it when I updated to Win10 2004. Tried to uninstall everything that´s Apple related and reinstall it but nothing helps.

Hey Darshark, what steps did you take to unlink OneDrive and change the folders back? I am having this issue as well, and I do use One Drive. Please help.
