How to import multiple videos on iMovie for iPad from the Files app?

I’ve been using Premiere Rush for video editing, however it is limited to exporting at 1080p. So I figured I’d try iMovie.

I have a folder with a few hundred clips in it. How can I import them all into my project?

I seem to be able to select multiple images/videos when creating a new project, but those are from the photo library rather than Files.

Afterwards, I seem to be able to add videos from Files, but only one at a time.

Am I missing something?
