macOS Compatibility with Windows 10

Hi, all:

It's my understanding that macOS is now compatible with Windows 10, or, rather, can run Windows in a simulated environment. Is this correct? How is this done?

Furthermore, I need to use Windows 10 to run a very old software program from the XP days. It's my understanding that this SHOULD be possible as Windows 10 is meant to be backwards compatible. Is this correct? How is this done?

Lastly, the program I intend to use (a DAW, Sonar 3) was designed on Windows 2000, but should the other OSes, like XP and Vista, work as well? Or can Windows 10 create an environment that is compatible with the other OSes without need to run a simulation within a simulation?

Thanks!

W10 may not support software from W2k/WXP, but you can install W10, before you buy a license, install your DAW software and test, and then decide if you want to buy it.

You can also use virtualization engines to install older Windows versions, if Bootcamp does not natively support them. Look at VMware Fusion, Parallels, VirtualBox or WiNE.
