apple ID/icloud password

I can't sign into my iCloud on my Mac as it says my password is incorrect. When I search online for how to reset my iCloud password all things direct me to reset my Apple ID password, which, even though I knew it I reset anyway. That didn't help; I still can't sign into my iCloud account. I really need to download my photos from my phone to my mac. Help please
