could it handle USB 3.1

Before I buy a Sandisk 1TB Extreme PRO Portable External SSD on my MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Mid-2014. Would my MacBook be able to Transfer Speed Up to 1050mb/s with no problem ?

Some Facts-

USB 3.1 doubles the transfer speed of 3.0 to 10 Gbps. USB 3.0 has transfer speed of 5Gbps. And like previous versions of USB 3.1 is fully backwards compatible with its predecessors.

Your Mid-2014 MacBook Pro has USB ports version 3.0. You will therefore be able to use your Sandisk External SSD at USB 3.0 speeds which is 5Gbps.

See image below to confirm specs of the ports that came with your Mid-2014 MacBook Pro.
