LaserWriter 16/600 PS: Technical Specifications

Hello,

To begin with, you may want to have a look at the manual for the LaserWriter 16/600 PS:

You will find that the printer has an AAUI Ethernet port. It is easy to convert this port to the "normal" RJ-45. Look for an Apple Ethernet Twisted-Pair Transceiver M0437 (should be available via, for example, an online auction site). Using standard Ethernet cables, you could then connect the printer to one of the LAN ports of a Wi-Fi router. Your 2017 MacBook Pro could then connect to the router wirelessly (or by Ethernet cable if an appropriate adapter is used).

The printer is capable of IP printing (LPR/LPD). It should be able to use a generic PostScript driver.

You could possibly try to connect a wireless Ethernet bridge (such as Netgear WNCE2001 or Linksys WET610N), or a Wi-Fi range extender with an Ethernet port (for example, TP-Link RE200), to the Apple Ethernet Twisted-Pair Transceiver. This should per se allow almost any Ethernet-capable device to connect via Wi-Fi. However, without having checked/tested all details, I do not know whether it can actually be made to work in a case like this.

BTW, (at least temporary) access to a Macintosh computer running something like OS 8.x to 9.x may help if an old printer utility is needed for certain settings.

Sonya,

You must have the instruction booklet too because you need it in order to start your printer and hook it up to your Mac book pro. In the instruction booklet their is a telephone number that you can call and asked for technical service to help you solved your issues that you are having now. Or call the toll free telephone number to Apple Care too as another option to have someone help you.
