How do I connect a samsung CLP 680ND printer to my mac running Monteray 12.6.2

I'm looking to use a Samsung CLP 680ND toner printer (received from father) to print via my iMac - it's running Monterey 12.6.2. I have no manufacturer disk and have done some searching but am struggling to find a driver for the printer.

I've plugged it in via USB as I believe it's not wireless - it's not being auto recognised.

I've tried to install drivers relating to 10.15 etc, but can't see anything later.

Any ideas please as would be a shame to bin an expensive bit of kit because I can't get it to connect properly.

Samsung CLP 680ND Printer, is now serviced by HP.

[1]

Older drivers for older macOS, for this printer, are here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/samsung-clp-680-color-laser-printer-series/16462332/model/16462336

( Basic-Drivers for macOS 10.13 , 68MB ).

[2]

But it may be software/driver compatible with Samsung CLX-6260 series drivers,

( in old samsung forum, i have seen users having conversation that atleast some components were similar ).

Printer (6260) page on HP site is here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/samsung-clx-6260-color-laser-multifunction-printer-series/16462350

& then change the page's OS selection into macOS 12 Monterey.

Then go inside "Drivers" section, you should see a DMG file for "Samsung CLX-6260 Series Print and Scan Driver" ( V5.06.03 <-- this was the last version when i visited the site on Dec-29, 2022 ) , & here is a direct link to that version's DMG file ( file-size 20.1 MegaBytes ).

[3]

Here is a direct-link to DRIVER BUNDLE ( VERY BIG DMG FILE-SIZE : 584 MegaBytes , v5.1.1 , CREATED 2021 , POSTED ON 2022) , in apple site , for HP Printer (and for Other Brand Printers Which Are Now Serviced By HP) Drivers , For macOS 12 Monterey.

Original download webpage & more info is here.

[4]

Another option is: download the "HP Easy Admin (for macOS)" and search for the drivers you need.

Pls let us know here, which you tried & if it worked or not, thanks in advance.

Hi,

If a compatible driver cannot be found, a discussion Samsung ML-1860 and latest MacOS could perhaps be of interest in this context. The workaround described by Matti Haveri in the discussion (about another model) is intended to eliminate a problem with a downloaded package not opening/installing under the latest operating system versions. Perhaps worth a try. Under Samsung Printer Drivers v2.6 for OS X, the article Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support lists a Samsung CLP-680 Series version 1.11.01 driver. This would be experimental. It may or may not work.

Before testing anything, make sure that you have backup copies of all important files. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out.

You may have to reset the printing system between tests. See the following articles for details:

Reset the printing system on your Mac to solve a problem – Apple Support (UK)

Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac – Apple Support (UK)

Also, the CLP-680ND model appears to have an Ethernet port (in addition to USB). This means that you could wire this model to one of the LAN ports of a Wi-Fi router instead, making it a network printer. Since it is not an AirPrint model, appropriate printer drivers will be needed under all circumstances.
