Problem with Garageband Software Instrument Track

So I have a MacBook Pro mid 2014. I have been recently working with garageband and have encountered a problem with the percussion and drum Software Instrument Track loops, the green one. It will play over in the loop library but when I drag it over to the track project no sound comes out when I hit play. When I would drag it over the computer would tell me I needed to download missing stuff (I don't remember the exact words) but it didn't seem to do anything.

I have tried restarting the computer to no avail, I finally deleted garageband from the computer and reinstalled it. The non-percussion instruments started to work, but the sound was very wobbly and distorted after dragging it over and still no go for the percussion and drums. Any ideas? It's really frustrating, I couldn't find any other reference to this on the web. Thanks in advance.

Hey RoyAD,

I see that you're having trouble with playing some of the instrument tracks in GarageBand.

Since you've already uninstalled and reinstalled the app, try creating a test user account to see if the issue persists. Creating a test user account can help determine if the issue is caused by third-party software: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac. There's steps to take further in that resource, depending if the issue happens in the test user account or not but you can also let us know the results.

Hi, thanks so much for answering my post, sorry it took so long to get back to you. Life sometimes gets crazy. Anyway, I tried what you said and unfortunately the results were still the same. I can’t help but wonder if the problem extends from something else, I’m just a user and not very technical, so sorry if I say something obviously wrong. Anyway this is my second Mac and some of the information on this computer came from a carbonite account that I used to back up my first Mac. My first iMac died so hard they couldn’t recover anything but I had stuff saved on the carbonite account, when it repopulated my MacBook could something have messed up? I had understood (perhaps wrongly)that the carbonite account saved information but not programs per se. I used carbonite to recover music and photos but I noticed my GarageBand projects (there was just a few and experimental) were present when I put GarageBand on my MacBook. Any possible connection there or am I just imagining things for lack of understanding on my part. Thanks so much for your time.
