Apple Intelligence is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac!
AFAIK the Chinese characters mean file.
I have tried rebuilding Launch Services to fix finder applying this file kind but it only works temporarily and then reverts to md 文件.
Is there any way to change this back to English?

Installed any Fonts lately?
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?

Thanks BDAqua. It seemed to be caused by an installation of TexShop. I deleted the app and associated files and the issue is resolved, at least for now.
Very good, doesn't sound like a Font then, but they can be installed for one user, so openFont Book & validate all fonts.
Will await outcome of that.
