Disabling Automatic Alignment

So when I am in Pages trying to align these arrows at just the right angle, I find that I can't move them smoothly. Instead, they are snapping to align with other graphics on the page. Now I do enjoy the automation that snapping provides but in this particular instance, it's a nuisance. Can the snapping feature be turned off?

Any (selected) object that you insert to Pages has its Arrange panel's Text Wrap set to Automatic. You want this set to None, so you can smoothly move objects around in the document. For certain types of objects, you may need to disable the Pages Preferences : Rules : Alignment Guides to ease the transition through rotation, such as merging these line vectors to a nearby point.
