can I turn on my 2011 mac mini using my cinema display power button

I read somewhere, a while back, that one can set up a cinema display to also power on the mac it's attached to when the display's power button is pressed. Anyone know how to do this? I have a great little 21" cinema display and am using it with a 2011 mac mini using the apple dvi to thunderbolt adapter. The display is still great, but I'd like to streamline to power the mini on when I press the display's power button.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Mac mini, macOS 10.13

No. ADC (Apple Display Connector) has a pin for the power control and ADC graphics cards connect that to the computer logic board though an extar tab on the graphics card. That tab also provides power to the display via the ADC.

Since you are using a DVI to ADC adapter, the ADC power control signal doesn't get to the computer since there is no equivalent DVI or USB pin.
