MacBook Pro battery level jumps and auto shut down on Catalina

After updating my MacBook Pro 13" 2017 non Touch Bar from High Sierra to Catalina 10.15.4, it started causing a lot of trouble. Lagging, short battery timings, beach balling and overheating (I've been using using it since 2017 without any trouble so I'm pretty sure it's the os).

Then apple released 10.15.5 and I thought updating to it might make it better. But that made it worse. Other than the issues I was already facing, now my battery percentage keeps jumping and it frequently auto shutdowns.

For example just right now it jumped directly from 75 80 percent to 34%. I checked activity monitor and it was showing 6 hours 40 minutes remaining battery time. But then after few minutes it auto shut down due to battery. When I connected it to power and turn it on again, it showed 75% battery level.

What option do I have other then taking it to shop or reverting the os back to High Sierra?

I've tried everything I could find on the internet like resetting the SMC. Turning off the battery health management also didn't help.

Note: My battery health is fine according to MacOs system report and third party apps.

Thanks for your reply.

I had checked my battery condition before posting, it was normal. And the battery timings were also good before updating the macOs. All issues started after updating the macOs.

After reading your post, I again checked the battery condition. Now it's showing 'Service Recommended'. Even though these issue are only recent and the battery cycle count is 184.

My question is that is it possible it's showing me 'Service Recommended' due to some software bug and not because my battery is faulty?

"Service Recommended" is a red flag for a battery that is failing. It has nothing to do with software bugs. The timing with the OS upgrade is coincidence. Your cycle count is relatively low, but the battery is obviously not working right, and it is failing. I expect that your battery misbehaviors will persist regardless of the operating system you use. Keep in mind that millions of users are using 10.15.4 and 10.15.5 and if the OS caused the battery to fail, it would be a huge and widespread problem for Apple.
