Apple Pay

If I used Apple Pay to make an In store purchase, and made a return, would my refund go automatically to my bank account associated with Apple Pay? I used my old device to make the purchase, but no longer have it as I traded my device in and upgraded. I’m worried my refund would somehow only go to Apple Pay
