Air Pods Pro "Connection Rejected"

I'm trying to set up a new set of Air Pod Pros but keep getting a message "Connection rejected" after it connects initially. The dialog cycles through "Connected" and "Connection rejected" several times , then stays on "Connection rejected". Here are the Mac's details.
