I have an iPhone 6s with 16 GB of storage. Systems and other takes up almost 12GB of storage. Any way to decrease the amount of storage required by systems and other?

How much is System, and how much is Other? Other is your data, it’s simply data that doesn’t fall into any other category. If Other is large (say, > 5 GB) it may indicate storage corruption. The fix for that is to back up the phone, then restore the backup.
