Hi
Are all 2018 iPad Pro models 3rd generation models?
Thanks
The 2018, 11 inch screen iPad Pro is considered the 1st generation of this screen size of iPad Pro.
The 2018, 12.9 inch screen iPad Pro is considered the third gen 12.9 inch screen model of iPad Pro.

Yes. Both the 2018 11” and 12.9” are often designated as third generation iPads Pro - although, somewhat confusingly, some product comparisons now reference the 2018 11” as a first generation product.
The 2020 11” and 12.9” are forth generation models of iPad Pro - and similarly the comparison listings cite the 11” as second generation.
To confuse matters further, the 10.5” iPad Pro was a second generation model, but only released in one model year.
It’s generally safer to just make reference to 2018 and 2020 models of iPad pro.
The WikiPedia page still makes reference to Apple’s original generation designators:

Apple refers to them as first generation and second generation iPad Pro 11", and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation 12.9" generation iPad Pros.
The 9.7" and 10.5" iPad Pros are not given a generation, technically first and only.
Anybody else that calls them 3rd and 4th Generation 11" iPad Pros just make things confusing.
Apple is very clear what they call them.

Yes, it is exceeding easy and cheap to quote from the current website descriptions. I don’t believe that anyone disputes the generational naming convention that Apple adopt. Tom, Dick, Harry, it matters not...
The point being made is that references to “generations” of iPad Pro are now not consistent between Apple and external resources. Instead of simplifying and clarifying, this has instead introduced confusion amongst some users who seek clarity.
Whilst the Apple website uses the clear naming convention that Apple wish to use, all other websites frequently reference the linear generational naming scheme - essentially following the CPU familIes.
We’re in complete agreement that references to generations introduces unnecessary confusion. Perhaps far better to simply refer to model name and number; easy, simple, everyone is happy.
I'm sorry, I was not aware we were not allowed to quote Apple's website for fear of being cheap. Or that our answers had to be super difficult to quote or something.
Yes, consistency is important. Calling a First Generation 3rd or 4th is confusing and assuming other do so is even worse. I have not seen any accessory manufacturer refer to the 11" iPad Pro as a 3rd or 4th generation. So no, the answer should have been the 2018 models are not all 3rd generation.
If I ask you what is the 3rd generation iPad Pro? The natural answer is the 12.9" not the 11"
Calling it the 3rd gen, is like me calling the iPad Pro 4th gen the 23rd generation iPad. Its technically correct, as its the 23rd iPad that Apple has released or the 22nd, depending on which one you think came first of the assembly line, but its unlikely anyone would immediately know what it is I was referring to.
If confronted with a 3rd Generation iPad Pro naming, its safer to assume its the 12.9". Then to assume its a first generation 11" iPad Pro. Or ask for clarification.

You’re most welcome. Hopefully all is clear.
The most significant differentiator of the 2018/2020 models of iPad Pro, over prior models, is the use of FaceID - whereas previous models instead used TouchID.
Otherwise, the main improvements of the 2020 Pro models over the 2018:
