adding a phone number to the ipad

I have a phone number for the IPAD and want to add it to my Apple ID but it is trying to send a code to the phone number. How do i bypass this or find the code?

iPad Pro 11-inch Wi-Fi, Cellular

If you have a Cellular model of iPad, with an active Cellular data plan, your iPad will have cellular number associated with the SIM/eSIM. However, unlike an iPhone, this number is only used to identify the cellular account for billing purposes; this cellular number is not used for messaging or other services.

Hello,

The phone number is populated by the phone number on an iPhone signed in with your Apple ID. If you do not have an iPhone then you cannot use this feature.
