MacBook Air Messages

So I just have gotten a new MacBook Air, it is the latest 2020 version and I just set up my iCloud and got all my contacts and such, but the thing is, I was testing out my messages by texting off my mothers phone and I'm not getting a notification of the text nor is it showing up on the left when I click of the message icon, I can only see the text if I type in my mothers contact name as if I'm trying to create a new message. Any ideas ? I would love and appreciate any help !

I'm a little confused because you wrote that you're using your mother's phone to text, but you're expecting those texts to appear on your Mac. Is that right? If that's the case you have to enable SMS Text Forwarding: How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your Mac.

I suspect I don't completely understand what you're trying to do though. It's a good excuse to contact Apple: Contact Support. Your Mac is new so you are entitled to 90 days of complimentary phone or chat support. They'll talk you through whatever it is you need to accomplish.
