Apple Watch trade In

Hello all. Trading my watch for a new one. My watch isn’t expected to arrive for a few more days, but I have received the packaging to return my old watch... Do I have to return the old watch as soon as I get the packaging? Or, can I continue to use it until I have receive my new one, and then send my original watch in?? Thanks
