iMessage and facetime

I changed my phone number! So my iMessage and FaceTime is set up to my old number I have tried deregister on the website but I no longer have that number to receive the code BUT my iMessages still use it! WHY? How can I put my new number on iMessage?

Did you get an error when you tried to activate? See If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201422
