Disk Not Ejected Properly error message

Since upgrading to Catalina, I've been getting these error messages regularly after the machine has been asleep. It's two Samsung T5 external SSD's, USB-C.

The messages are worrisome, but the data on the disks seems fine (so far).

There were a bunch of older posts about this, but nothing recent that I could find.
