Playlists do not sync in the same order from iMac to iPhone

I have quite a few Music playlists on my iMac and they are sorted in different ways. Some are just the random order of when I added music, some are by time (length of song), some are in album order and some are by year (as in year the song was written/released). They all used to sync perfectly, exactly as they appear on iMac, but recently (since Catalina, possibly earlier, but definitely after), the playlists show up on iphone in some other random order. I can't even figure out what the order is and I have no idea how to correct it.

Hi annejc,

I understand playlists are not in the same order on your iPhone as they are on your Mac.

Playlists on iPhone show up in the order the songs were added to that particular playlist.

If you'd like them to show up in a specific order, on your Mac, go to: Music > [Playlist] > View (in menu bar) > Show View Options, then sort by Playlist Order. Then you can arrange them as you wish.

These changes should then be reflected on your iPhone.

If this is not the case, on your iPhone, I would recommend going to: Settings > Music > Disabled Sync Library, power off the device, then power it back on and re-enable Sync Library.

Hope this helps!
