Animating in drop zones
I want to animate an image that I put into a drop zone. In properties it won't let me add keyframes. How do I add keyframes to an image in a drop zone?

..I forgot to mention - the drop zone has properties pan and scale that can be used for Ken Burns effect. You can not keyframe these directly but you can put these onto a slider widget - and that slider widget can be keyframes - either in Motion or published to be keyframed in FCPX.

Hi
If I understand you correctly, you want to add an image to a drop zone, and then animate the image so that the animation appears to run within the drop zone. This is not how drop zones work in Motion.
When you load an image into a drop zone, the drop zone will display that image static and will ignore and keyframes applied to it.
If you want to animate the drop zone, then you can apply your keyframes or behaviors directly to the drop zone, or to the drop zone group, or both. The drop zone has identical 'property' parameters available to keyframe as any image file within motion.
Could you please give more details about the project and what you want your goals are? There may be other ways to get the results you are looking for.
Hi
The Ken Burns style you want to make, is this for a Motion project alone, or are you making an title/effect for FCPX?
So, you want to have an image display within a frame and then have the image move Ken Burns style within the frame. Is that right? If this is for just Motion, and not for FCPX, then you don't need to use drop zones. There are other solutions. If it is to be used for FCPX, then I think there is way to do this using clones maybe.
Drop Zones are not just for still images.
It is still unclear if this just a project in Motion, or this is part of a generator or effect to be used in Final Cut Pro.
If this is were a generator, this is what I’d do: leave the drop zone as is; prepare the image by dragging it to an auxiliary project, apply the Ken Burns, and save the result as a compound clip; go back to the project and apply that compound to gge drop zone.
I wanted to do something like a Ken Burns effect. I wanted the image to move behind a picture frame that was the drop zone. I was just looking for a workaround I saw that in the properties that you could not add keyframes to an image. I guess I’ll just have to duplicate the drop zone group and come up with another idea using multiple images.
