Mouse slowdown and jerkiness severely frustrating.

My iMac has become almost unusable. $3000.00 and my 8 year old Dell at the office performs better, because every time I download something, from any website, using any browser, the mouse becomes stuttering and jerky and slow.

I'm betting it has some issue with bandwidth or I/O or whatever, beyond my expertise.

I have used the Magic Mouse and a Logitech, and the issue persists. I don't play games, or use CPU heavy apps.

My iMac is a 27 Inch Retina 2019 model, running the latest Catalina version, 10.15.5

3.6GHZ 8 Core i9 CPU, 48GB Ram.

What browsers and how many do you have open at the same time?

I suggest running EtreCheck and posting back here with the Report.

FWIW like your 8 year old Dell, my 8 year old Mac has no issues running Safari in any of the latest macOS’s.

CleanMyMac is bad news, uninstall it as per the developers instructions.

Startup in Safe Mode, followed by a normal restart.

Then run and post a new EtreCheck Report.

Hi. I am using Latest Safari version. Occasionally I use Firefox. Rarely use it but tested downloading stuff with it and same issue.

Mot sure what Etrecheck did. I see stuff about minor or major issues, other things require purchase.

Nothing in the Major or Minor issues show mouse problems. Or solutions.

To let you know, you will see some apps that may raise a flag in re: CPU/RAM possible usage "hogs".

Like Carbonite or VMWare Fusion, but these rarely run, and the issue has persisted long before I purchashed these apps.
