It is quite possible that the files / folders that you may be looking for are somehow hidden.

To unhide those Files / Folders ➔ Open Finder ➔ Press Command + Shift + dot (Period Key to the left of Question Mark key).

That should reveal the hidden files/folder and check whether those are the ones that you were looking for.

You can change the Grouping display, by single click on the Group icon, and select None, to expand the list display.
