Photos app on my iPad Pro

I recently upgraded to an iPad Pro 4th Gen and I imported my apps from my old iPad via iCloud as part of the setup process. I noticed that my old photos app, My Photos (from the App Store), that I like and have been used to using no longer shows the import and other buttons along the bottom of the screen so I can no longer use it import new photos. Frustratingly, if I turn the iPad to a different orientation you can momentarily see the buttons as it rotates but they disappear as if off the bottom of the screen. Swiping up and down doesn’t show them as they are supposed to be in a fixed panel along the bottom (as they still are on my old iPad). Also, the app doesn’t show up in the sharing options used to export photos into the app from other apps.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks for clarification. We have been exploring possible explanations for the problem. Your clarification eliminates one route of inquiry.

If the App predates release of the iPad Pro upon which the App is installed, it is highly likely that the App will not be coded to support the screen resolution of your iPad Pro. Unless the device has explicit support for your iPad, it is very possible that issues with screen rendering and scaling may occur.

Additionally, System Libraries, upon which may Apps have dependency, can change or be updated. These changes can negatively impact Apps unless they are similarly updated.

Apps that are no longer visible within the Apple App Store have usually been withdrawn from sale by the Developer - or, if the App has been abandoned by the Developer, potentially by Apple.

As the App is present on your iPad, despite not being directly searchable within the App Store, it may still be visible to you.

Please open the App Store App on your iPad, then tap on the Account icon at top-right of the App window. Tap Purchased - then scroll down the list of Apps until you find My Photo; tap on the icon to open the App details.

Please screenshot the entry; multiple screenshots may be required to capture all details. Please pay particular attention to the Version History and Compatibility sections. If you post your screenshots here, we’ll have more information to aid diagnosis.

Hmm, that is strange.

If you go to Settings->Accessibility->Zoom is it turned on there? bIf it is, turn it off, and try going back to the App.

If that does not work, its possible, though unlikely the App was not designed for the new iPad's resolution and is having issues correctly adjusting to it.

Outside of that, maybe force closing the App, and opening it again, may change something. See here: How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Thanks again, yes Zoom is turned off under Accessibility. The app is the same whenever I close and open it (I normally close all the apps when not in use, apart from Safari and Mail). I don’t understand why the bottom panel isn’t being displayed, the resolution may be higher on the iPad Pro but it has exactly the same aspect ratio as the old one.

I tried dozens of similar apps from the App Store but there’s nothing with a similar appearance and range of functions and are all full of annoying ads. The same will be for the paid apps to avoid the ads, I could waste a fortune trying to find the right one.

Thanks LotusPilot, I didn’t know you could bring up the old app details in the Purchased section of the App Store. When I did I found out that the app had been superseded by Photo Manager Pro 5. When I searched for it I bought Photo Manager Pro 6 which is great and is a true upgrade to the old version. This saved having to purchase loads of half useless apps just to check them out. BTW, the compatibility section of the old app said "Works on this iPad".

Thanks again, problem solved.
