Thunderbolt 3 pcie lanes?

Hi there, how many pcie lanes are in the 2017 MacBook Pro 15-inch thunderbolt 3 ports? I am reading mixed things online, about the 13-inch only having two and not four lanes, whereas the 15-inch in 2017 had 4 lanes in all 4 ports. In 2018, this was all revamped and the 13-inch was given 16 lanes so it had full thunderbolt power capability. Did the 2017 15-inch model have all lanes in it or no? Asking because I want to consider an eGPU and don't know if my ports are restricting compared to other laptops.

These are all a function of the hardware design about which Apple provides little public information. The more lanes supported by the PCIe determines the maximum speed the TB3 ports can sustain. However, I believe what you are reading has to do with the PCIe lane support for the internal SSD. This will affect the r/w speeds of the SSD. The TB3 ports should be on a separate controller, I believe. Check the specs to determine what speeds the ports support. The highest speed would be 40Gbps, followed by 20Gbps, 10Gbps, and 5Gbps. The latter is standard USB 3.0 speed.
