Hi, YashBhatwal.

I'm glad you decided to reach out on the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you weren’t able to update your iPhone XS from iOS 13.5 to 13.5.1 in the Settings app or by connecting your your MacBook Pro.

In cases where you’re unable to update by either method, you’ll need to put your device into recovery mode to update or restore it as outlined here:

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

When you’re prompted to Restore or Update I would opt for Update first. This will reinstall the latest version of the iOS software without impacting any of the data on your iPhone. If the update option doesn’t work, you may need to restore so make sure you have a backup before you get started.

All my best.

YashBhatwal,

Thanks for working through those steps. If you don't see a line that includes "apple.com" it's OK. We can move past that step. Were you able to check for potential interference from security software? If you have any type of additional software installed on your Mac, it's possible it is interfering with your ability to connect to Apple servers.

We suggest disabling the software, if possible. If not, you may need to uninstall it.

Good luck!
