Will erasing hard drive delete my iCloud files

I am returning a MacBook Pro. Info is to erase my hard drive. Won't that also delete my iCloud documents?

Not if you sign out of iCloud first.

After that you should enter ➔ macOS Recovery Mode and erase the SSD and then reinstall the macOS as indicated in the link.
