If I have other applications open while I'm using Final Cut Pro I often get a memory warning. Swap Memory rises over the next 10 minutes from 2GB up to 55GB then Final Cut Pro crashes. Why is this happening? MacBook Pro 15" (2015) with 16GB memory + 1TB SSD. Latest versions of all software.

CleanMyMac has likely damaged your system files at some point. I would recommend doing a clean install of the system, migrating users, and reinstalling the applications, without CleanMyMac.

As I am halfway through several editing jobs, I'm loath to do a clean install but will if Swap Memory continues to haemorrhage.

I mostly use Safari, Preview and Activity Monitor...
What applications are running? Chrome?
Generate an EtreCheck report using full drive access from the application preferences. Copy the report and paste it using the Additional Text button.
