Final Cut Pro and Swap Memory

If I have other applications open while I'm using Final Cut Pro I often get a memory warning. Swap Memory rises over the next 10 minutes from 2GB up to 55GB then Final Cut Pro crashes. Why is this happening? MacBook Pro 15" (2015) with 16GB memory + 1TB SSD. Latest versions of all software.

I've contacted MacPaw support to give them a chance to address this:

Hi,

I'm having an issue with Swap Memory. I'm running the latest version of Final Cut Pro 10.4.8 on a 2015 MacBook Pro (OS 10.15.5). Over the course of 10 minutes, every couple of hours, the Swap Memory goes up from around 1-2GB to 55GB then Final Cut Pro crashes. I've put this question to Apple DIscussions and am pointed to the feed "cleanmymac claims another victim". I am advised to do a clean install, removing CleanMyMac (v4.6.5) in the process. Can I have a response from you before I do this?

S Dewsbery

As I am halfway through several editing jobs, I'm loath to do a clean install but will if Swap Memory continues to haemorrhage.

Thanks for your help.

Sebastian
