I’m setting up a new printer and it keeps asking for my printer password. The printer is connected to the WiFi. But I can’t get my tablet to hook up. If I enter my WiFi password when it asks for the printer password it doesn’t take it. What else could the password be?

If you don’t have an AirPrint printer and you’re trying to connect to the printer itself and not through your router then the printer will have a different password that is independent of your router. If it’s AirPrint, you shouldn’t have to “connect” to the printer, you should just be able to print and your iPad will find the printer on your network when you go to print.
What is the make & model of this printer? Did you enable it for AirPrint through its administrator interface? Can your iPad even "see" it when you try to print to it? If so, does it still ask for a password?
Generally to use air print there is on password. All you need is both devices on the same wifi network.
Have you googled your printer manufacturer to see what guidance they have?

Yes I have. I had to print out a page with the password for the printer. It was 1234567! But it worked. Thank you for your help and suggestions.
