Sound glitch, momentarily - MacBook Pro 13" 2016 - macOS Catalina 10.15.5

My MBP, for about the past 4-6 weeks has had the sound cutting out, momentarily, when watching Netflix, Youtube, including other video playbacks. It's like a glitch, nothing happens to the video quality.

I have tried resetting PRAM, no change. I reset the internet modem, no change. I resorted to backing up my MBP and factory resetting it, AND.... no change.

The sound from the speakers is fine, there is no crackling etc.

No other computer or Smart TV in the home has this problem.

Is this a hardware issue that might need fixing, or has anyone experienced this and resolved it?

___________

Update: I tried the SMC reset, as suggested, which I had not previously done. At first I thought it had worked, but on the second check, while watching Netflix, the glitching sound continued. If anything not as often, but it still happens every 5-10 mins or so.

Does anyone have any other suggestions, or is there a hardware part that might need replacing?

Thanks

Hi _wisey_,

I understand you're having some trouble with sound on your Mac and I want to help.

Have you tried connecting headphones to see if this behavior occurs there as well?

Does this only occur when streaming video? Have you tried watching a video saved locally to your Mac or listening to audio only like a voice clip or a song in Music?
